Every once in a while I come across a book or series of books that stays with me no matter how many other books I read. Anne McCaffrey's Crystal Singer series is one of them. I feel like I'm back in high school, but I'm in my happy place when I'm reading and I want to share those good feelings with you :)
Book review: Anne McCaffrey's Crystal Singer series. I think I first read Crystal Singer, Killashandra, and Crystal Line when I was in my early twenties. I just finished reading the series for the third time. And man, all three books were just as mesmerizing as the first time I read them.
Without giving too much away, what I especially like about this series are the characters and the worlds Ms. McCaffrey created. Killashandra Ree is a strong heroine, even though occasionally over the top. In the beginning, she isn't a big-picture kind of girl, and since no one is perfect, her life journey is full of backward and forward calamities until she finally figures it out in the end—in the most unexpected way. I can use more forward progress in my own life. As Ms. McCaffrey has shown us in this series, making the most of our journey on this planet, even if moving forward can sometimes be an uncomfortable accident, it is the only way.
If you like Fantasy Romance, I highly recommend this series.
Happy reading!
XO Su
I still remember reading the Dragonriders of Pern series by Ms. McCaffrey as a young teen. The world was rich and the writing so beautiful to read.
