It's a New Year! Today is January 11, 2022. I'm not sure how that happened, but here we are, and in my corner of the world we've already had more snow than usual, we lost power (but not the ability to brew coffee—we have a generator for just such occasions), made some progress on the remodel, and given more than one thought to what I'm going to do in the garden this year (just remember I'm an amateur, not a master gardener). I've submitted two new proposals to editors, updated my website, and decided to be more consistent with the blog posts. So, this is me shouting, hello! But first, it's time for coffee.

Ah, that's better . . . What I want to write about is The Life and Times of a Wife, Mother, Sister, Daughter, Friend, Dreamer, Author. To begin with (I feel like I should reintroduce myself), I live in the foothills of Mt. Hood with Mr. L. and a variety of neighbor cats, dogs, bunnies, and hummingbirds. Every once in a while we contemplate moving to Central Oregon. That's a lot of work, and once we finish this remodel, I'll have my forever home—so that is not on the agenda.

Speaking of agendas, there are a couple of things I want to work on—

  • Write more.

  • Finish those two submissions I spoke of

  • Finish and submit a contemporary romance single title (it's finished, I'm just polishing now).

  • Read a book a month.

  • Work on the remodel, of course, but mostly finish the house.

  • Work on the garden, outside and inside.

  • Travel some. My next trip is this weekend with the Besties. We're off to Florence, Oregon for a writer's retreat.

Things to look forward to—

  • Books I want to read—first on the list: Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman, Major Pettigrew's Last Stand by Helen Simonson, and The Richest Man in Babylon by George S. Clason.

  • Follow along as we continue to remodel our 1974 country ranch house.

  • Great places to go on retreat (for any reason but for me, with family, and author friends to brainstorm and write)

And, oh yeah . . .
